Paspalum Seminar Event Scheduled
Myrtle Beach (Friday, July 17, 2009): Perspectives on Paspalum, a seminar and golf outing that focuses on management issues of Seashore Paspalum grass, will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Topics to be covered include: history of paspalum and an update on research and the latest cultivars; a practical guide for using salt with paspalum; no-till conversion from bentgrass to paspalum; converting from bermudagrass; herbicides for use on paspalum; and a panel discussion. Seminars are led by industry experts such as university researchers, consultants and superintendents currently managing the grass.
The event includes breakfast, lunch and 18-holes of golf or a tour of Pine Lakes. Admission and golf are free, but seating and tee times are limited. Pine Lakes is the first golf course in the Myrtle Beach area to convert from bermudagrass to seashore paspalum. It was grassed wall-to-wall with SeaDwarf.
