Uses
SeaDwarf® is a premium turfgrass and a high-quality golf turf. Its ability to be mowed from 1/10-inch to about 4-inches makes it ideal for wall-to-wall, rough and tee-to-green applications on golf courses. It also provides for very fast green speeds--documented at 10.5 on the stimp meter and higher. As SeaDwarf® courses can be sprigged from tee-to-green and in the rough with just one cultivar of turfgrass, golf course superintendents need not worry about encroachment of other grasses. Its brilliant color and fine texture make SeaDwarf® an opulent, luxurious choice for high-end residential lawns. It is well-suited for athletic fields. SeaDwarf® stands up to wear and soil compaction. It also heals quickly from sports-related damage. Its salt-tolerance makes SeaDwarf® a good choice for dune stabilization and bioremediation. It also works well in flow-way applications where the turf will remain wet or even submerged for periods of time. It is fairly shade tolerant, fairly cold tolerant, and can withstand prolonged wet conditions.
Maintenance Characteristics
Though not difficult to maintain, SeaDwarf® has different maintenance requirements than other turfgrasses such as bermudagrass.
Takes up to 50 percent less water than bermudagrass. Requires up to 75 percent less nitrogen than bermudagrass. Salt can be used as herbicide. For more specific information, we offer a free book filled with maintenance tips.

Highly Salt Tolerant
SeaDwarf® Seashore Paspalum is highly salt tolerant. Though SeaDwarf® can be irrigated with fresh water, lower quality water may be used as an irrigation source. It can be irrigated with brackish water, gray water, effluent or water with a salt content of up to 22,000 ppm, or in some cases, higher. A golf course in Mallorca, Spain, irrigates its SeaDwarf® with straight seawater. Weeds can be treated with ordinary table salt. SeaDwarf® will remain unharmed! It is perfect for situations where quality irrigation water is not an option. SeaDwarf® is great for seaside applications. Salt spray over seawalls won't harm it. At least one waterfront golf course has been known to irrigate it with water right out of the bay.
Environmentally-Friendly
SeaDwarf® Seashore Paspalum needs low fertilizer, low nitrogen and can be treated for weeds with table salt. This saves time and money and helps the environment by putting much fewer chemicals into the ecosystem. Requires up to 50 percent less water than bermudagrass. Can be irrigated with recycled water. Has much less nitrogen run-off than many other turfgrasses because less nitrogen is used for fertilization.
Other Tolerances
Stands up well in high traffic areas. It is fairly cold tolerant. Cold weather with temperatures as low as 28 degrees, (in some cases, even lower), seems to be no problem for Seashore Paspalum. Works well in a variety of soils. Can survive in wet and water-logged areas. It is fairly shade tolerant and can grow in low-light situations such as cloudy conditions. SeaDwarf® Seashore Paspalum is fairly drought tolerant. The turfgrass produces a very deep root system that allows it to hold in moisture for longer periods of time than many other turfgrasses. Under the right conditions, it can go for several days without irrigation.
